Ivan Vasilev, Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation, held a meeting with Her Excellency Tsovinar Hambardzumyan, Ambassador of Armenia.
The two discussed opportunities for the exchange of experience and cooperation in the areas of chip and semiconductor technologies, microelectronics, IT and other related fields. Minister Vasilev noted that Bulgaria has long-standing traditions in these fields and has highly qualified specialists.
He drew attention to the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of technological innovation and research and development, signed a year earlier between the competent ministries of the two countries. The document establishes a framework for cooperation in a number of areas, including artificial intelligence, the exchange of ICT specialists and the development of start-up ecosystems, among other areas. Other topics discussed included data centres, the IT ecosystems of Bulgaria and Armenia, the Bulgarian AI language model BgGPT, and the importance of supercomputers.
During the meeting at the Ministry, Minister Vasilev presented the main objectives he has set: developing a high-value-added economy, positioning Bulgaria as a preferred destination for high-tech investment, and digitally transforming work processes and administrative services to make them easy and convenient for citizens and businesses to use. “I am confident that we can achieve these objectives by the end of the current term of office,” Minister Vasilev said.
Deputy Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation Mira Yosifova also attended the meeting.
