Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Martin Danovsky opened the national pavilion, organized by BSMEPA, at one of the most significant global technology events GITEX EUROPE in Berlin

Bulgaria is actively involved in the processes related to the implementation, use and regulation of artificial intelligence in the EU. When we talk about high technologies and innovations, it does not matter which country is the biggest or the smartest. Special attention should be paid not only to the technological aspect of AI, but also to the ethical, social and economic aspects. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Martin Danovsky at one of the largest international technology events GITEX EUROPE 2025 in Berlin. He participated in a ministerial panel discussion on the topic “Intelligence as Infrastructure: The New Engine of Economic Power”.

Deputy Minister Danovsky said that Bulgaria is home to one of the best artificial intelligence institutes in Europe, INSAIT. He highlighted its establishment as one of the steps Bulgaria has taken in recognizing technology as an engine for future economic growth. Recently, the Bulgarian Discoverer Supercomputer was also upgraded with special artificial intelligence systems. “Two months ago, our country won a project to build one of the six new EU AI factories. We are working to make Bulgaria a leader in the sector in the EU,” the deputy minister pointed out.

According to him, Bulgaria is also focusing on training future specialists in the field of artificial intelligence, both in higher education and in secondary education. “We need to prepare the next generations to deal with the new type of industry, to have basic skills and knowledge of high technologies, as this is the future,” Danovsky added.

Within the framework of the technology event, the Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth opened the national pavilion, organized by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) under the Ministry of Innovation and Growth. It was also attended by the Executive Director of BSMEPA, Dr. Boyko Takov. Our country was represented by over 100 high-tech startup companies. They had the opportunity to meet and present their products and services to potential investors and clients.

“The government is working hard to support and encourage you to develop. Thanks to your efforts and enthusiasm, today our country can participate in this major event and show that it has a place in the world of new technologies,” the Deputy Minister addressed the Bulgarian companies. He congratulated BSMEPA for the work well done and wished success to the participants.
