Innovation and Digital Transformation Minister Ivan Vasilev met with H.E. Pierre Hagmann, Ambassador of Switzerland.
At the meeting at the ministry, the two sides discussed issues of bilateral interest, including research and development, innovation, and partnerships between Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and the technical institute ETH Zurich and the research university EPFL Lausanne. Particular attention was given to the importance of the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) and its future development. Bulgaria’s advantage in developing its own artificial intelligence language model, BgGPT, was also noted.
Vasilev said the three key factors for attracting strategic investors in high-tech sectors, including from Switzerland, are access to talent, which Bulgaria has, access to capital, and streamlined procedures in a favorable business environment.
Vasilev presented the ministry’s priorities, noting that one of its main goals is to shift the Bulgarian economy toward high-value-added products and services. He also said the digitization of administrative processes and services is being accelerated in parallel to improve access for citizens and businesses.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Innovation and Digital Transformation Minister Mira Yosifova and H.E. Tessa Nerini, Deputy Ambassador of Switzerland.
