The Minister of Innovation and Growth Milena Stoicheva met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Bulgaria H.E. H.E. Andrea Ikic-Böhm. Also participating in the meeting were Philippe Kupfer, Trade Advisor and Madeleine Lightsberger, Trade Attaché. On behalf of the Ministry was present also Deputy Minister Prof. Georgi Angelov.

The deepening of bilateral economic relations in the sphere of innovation, high technologies and research and development was discussed at the meeting. The focus was also on the development of the entrepreneurial and startup ecosystem in Bulgaria.

“Among the main goals set by the Ministry of Innovation and Growth is the attraction of investors who, through the development of high-tech innovations, create high added value in our economy”, said Minister Stoycheva. According to her, research and development activity, as well as the development of human potential, should be the basis for the creation of innovations that can be successfully commercialized in business.

Minister Stoycheva informed the ambassador of the Republic of Austria about her visits to the universities in Varna and Burgas and her meetings with the local authorities. She announced that she will continue her tours around the country to unlock the potential of the regions and strengthen the relationship between science and business.

Both sides emphasized that they will work in close cooperation in the fields of education, science, development of key skills, innovation, high technology and investment.
