The Ministry of Innovation and Growth (MIG) encourages as many Bulgarian participants as possible to submit project proposals under the initiatives of the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA). This was stated by Deputy Minister Prof. Georgе Angelov during an Information Day at Sofia Tech Park, organised by MIG to present the opportunities for support provided by the Agency.

According to Prof. Angelov, Bulgaria’s cooperation with EUSPA and the European Space Agency (ESA) brings significant benefits for strengthening the country’s space technology and economic capacity. “We encourage more entrepreneurs and young people to become part of the space ecosystem,” he said.

“There are several prominent companies in Bulgaria with projects in the space sector. Our goal is to multiply their example. In the past two to three years, we have witnessed interest from new companies as well. This shows that the system is maturing and expanding,” Prof. Angelov added.

During the Information Day, Bulgarian companies and research organisations received information about the Agency’s activities, in particular the calls for space-related proposals under the Horizon Europe programme for 2025, as well as the outlook for 2026–2027. Experts also presented opportunities under EUSPA’s Fundamental Elements programme. Participants were further informed about innovation support in the space sector through the European Commission’s CASSINI initiative and the European Innovation Council (EIC).

At the end of the event, the rules and modalities for participation in the Eleventh ESA Tender Procedure for Bulgaria were presented.
