The Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Prof. George Angelov held a meeting with representatives of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) at the Ministry of Innovation and Growth. The OECD mission is in Bulgaria within the framework of the technical review of our country’s policy in the field of the digital economy in the context of the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria to the organization.

Deputy Minister Angelov said that joining the OECD is one of the main priorities of our foreign policy. According to him, full membership in it will allow Bulgaria to continue its development in accordance with the goals of the organization, which include more sustainable economic development, increased standard of living, improved financial stability, and more.

During the OECD mission in our country, in the period 16-20 October, working meetings will be held with Bulgarian institutions and interested parties. Topics such as access, data management and protection, digital security, children’s online safety, electronic identification, ICT, broadband connectivity, international mobile roaming services, artificial intelligence, innovation, etc. will be discussed within the discussions.

We remind that the beginning of the accession process was given in 2022 with the decision of the OECD Council. The Ministry of Innovation and Growth has been identified as the lead institution for coordinating activities within the Digital Economy Policy Committee technical review.
