Ivan Vasilev, Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation, met with Her Excellency Kirsti Pohjankukka, Ambassador of Finland to Bulgaria. They discussed opportunities for partnership between the innovation ecosystems of the two countries, strengthening economic cooperation, attracting investment in high-value-added sectors, and cybersecurity.
“The public sector’s digital portfolio is one of the Ministry’s key areas of focus. Our goal is to build a modern digital state. We are accelerating the transition to AI-based systems,” Minister Vasilev said. He added that one of his personal priorities was to ensure that public services in Bulgaria were accessible, fast and easy to use for both citizens and businesses.
He noted that, only a few days earlier, the Ministry had launched a Discord channel enabling interested parties to quickly submit suggestions and ideas for the development of digital services. “We already have more than 3,000 participants, predominantly young people, with whom we are discussing what they would like to see in the public sector and public services,” Minister Vasilev emphasised. The Minister also noted that members of the IT community would be invited to jointly develop new digital products.
Minister Vasilev and Ambassador Pohjankukka also discussed opportunities for technology partnerships in the development of public services. “The next important step is to bring all services together in one place so that they are convenient for citizens, rather than scattered across different websites,” the Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation added.
Deputy Minister Mira Yosifova also attended the meeting at the Ministry.
